- To solve workplace loneliness

Clap-clap is a bracelet used to solve workplace loneliness by doing action. Taking inspire from the sense of ritual among athletes, employees can find a special clapping way and repeat this action to create more emotional connections. Ritual in workplace is defined as action or behavior regularly follow by a group that is designed to increase employee’s engagement. We want to use the special ritual in workplace to enhance the office relationship and make happiness at work. Clap-clap bracelet is portable, and it will not affect daily work during use. After completing a ritual, the bracelet will provide a visual and tactile feedback. On the top, we have a magnet badge design for members from the same team. It can also replace traditional employee card, they can use it to open the company's access control.Clap-clap have an application to provide a visual feedback and show the employee’s mood.

Opportunity

As this is a design for the workplace and there are often some interest-binding relationships between colleagues. Therefore, how to build the emotional connection of employees without compromising the interests of them and meeting the requirements of the workplace has become our biggest challenge. However, we have discovered the powerful emotional communication that the special action in the sense of ritual can bring to us, which we think are suit for the workplace too.

How does it work?

Our products do not require any direct operation. Just provide some visual feedback while promoting emotional communication. In this way, employees are encouraged to get rid of some interests in their work and life, and support them to encourage each other. Employees can create a sense of ritual in the office with gestures or movements they are familiar with. Everyone can work together to build a warm office environment.

Clap-clap is designed for companies that use it to care about the health of their employees and create a healthier and warmer workplace environment. We believe the relationship and friendship at work are absolutely important for the happiness, engagement and productivity in workplace. Lonely workers will be less happy than their colleagues, which will effect the capability of creativity, productivity and decision making. We hope to help the company run better by creating a warm working environment. In this way, employees can have a favorable working environment and enhance the sense of belonging to make the company more efficient. From a WGSN research, they found that consumers are more willing to choose companies that can keep their kindness. This refers not only to consumers, but also the kindness to their employees and the society. Our product is an opportunity for the company to show their kindness to the employees. This will enhance the company's corporate image in the public.

The problem of loneliness has always been a social concern. There are also many studies show that loneliness is caused by efficient communication equipment. Our design hopes to add some valuable emotional connection in the fast-growing society. The way we solve this problem allows everyone to think more while reflecting loneliness problem. We also call on society to pay attention to loneliness in the workplace that has not been effectively addressed. We believe that our ideas can inspire more people to solve loneliness in the workplace. This will help resolve this social issue faster.
